A shot of the stop and go traffic we drive through two times a day to get to and from work. The emissions are so bad that some of the passengers wear masks to filter out some of the pollutants. Our 40 kilometer trip takes anywhere from 45 minutes-one and one half hours.
This shot was taken from the Guarderia, standing on top of the wooden play structure. The Guarderia's idyllic image is quickly erased when you allow yourself to remember what lies just outside of its tall and protective walls.
Another view of the neighborhood. These are the more established homes, not the squatter's village.
More of the residences surrounding the Guarderia. Despite the shortage of water, laundered clothes can always be seen hanging in the alleys. Everything in the area is covered by the dust and debris from the dump that is just across the street. The sight of vultures overhead only adds to the grim scene.

Great big hugs to the all of you and an extra one for Becca. Becca, you must be so proud of yourself! Now that you've gotten past the play and the spelling bee (and were incredible in both), I wonder what you'll do next that will make you proud of yourself? I can't wait to give you hugs in person. Keep working hard and being that great student I left in Michigan :)
